JEREMCIUK:THUG KNIFED MAN IN THE NECK IN DRINK FUELLED STREET ATTACK

A thug who knifed a man in the neck in a drink-fuelled street fight is facing years behind bars.

Iaindes Jeremciuk, 31, stabbed 26-year-old Mantas Kesminas as he walked home from the pub in Station Road, Ilford, Essex, on March 30 this year.

Snaresbrook Crown Court heard Mr Kesminas, was lucky to be alive after the attack.

Prosecutor Heidi Stonecliffe said: ‘It is a stabbing to the neck where, from the evidence I have seen, it seems the victim, through the quick thinking of an officer who attended the scene, does not lose as much blood as could have put him in real jeopardy.’

Jeremciuk, of no fixed address, had been facing an attempted murder charge, but the charge was dropped after he admitted wounding with intent to commit grievous bodily harm.

He was remanded in custody to allow a psychiatric report to be completed.

The Lithuanian defendant will appear before the same court for sentencing on September 21.
