KAMARA: NURSE HAD SIX-MONTH FLING WITH PSYCHIATRIC PATIENT

A psychiatric nurse had sex with a patient during a secret six-month affair, a hearing was told.

Osman Kamara was involved with the woman between January and June 2005, it is alleged.

Kamara met the woman while she was being treated at St Pancras Hospital in Camden, nw London, the Nursing and Midwifery Council heard.

The registered mental health nurse is accused of calling making sexual remarks and calling her on her mobile phone during her stay as an inpatient between January and March.

When she was discharged, he continued the ‘inappropriate relationship’ by making contact and having sex with her between March 22 and June, it is claimed.

During that time he is said to have told the woman to keep their affair confidential.

Kamara is facing a misconduct hearing before the Nursing and Midwifery Council in central London.

If found guilty he could be struck off the nursing register.

The hearing is being held behind closed doors after the panel said the health of Kamara and certain witnesses would be compromised by a public session.

Kamara denies all the charges against him.
