Champions League ‘pitch invader’ fails to show
A spectator accused of running onto the pitch during the Champions League final at Wembley failed to show up to his hearing at court today (weds).
David Carneckij, 28, was one of three people including a 16-year-old boy charged with pitch invasion following the chaotic scenes at the showpiece event.
Carneckij, of Walworth, southeast London, is charged with going onto a playing area at a football match and going onto an area adjacent to the playing area.
He did not appear at Westminster Magistrates Court and the case was adjourned until 27 August.
If Carneckij fails to attend then the hearing will go ahead in his absence.
Ukrainian Yevhenii Lubnenko, 29, had tried to get on the turf less than three minutes after kick-off as part of the stunt to get about £250,000 from a Belarusiun blogger.
Lubenko, who was wearing a t-shirt bearing the blogger’s name when stewards stopped him, was banned from football matches in the UK for three years last month.
Real Madrid won their 15th Champions League title, the most in the history of the competition, against German side Borussia Dortmund on 1 June.
Los Blancos, whose side included England star Jude Bellingham, won 2-0 courtesy of late goals from Dani Carvajal, who will appear in the Euros final for Spain on Sunday, and Brazilian icon Vinicius Jr.
Police had arrested 53 people during the Champions League final, five of whom were pitch invaders.
