JAHANGIR:HALF NAKED HOTEL SECURITY GUARD BROKE INTO GUEST’S ROOM

A hotel security guard broke in to a young guest’s room without any trousers on, but still wearing his shirt, tie and jacket, a court heard.

Mohammed Jahangir, 41, crept in to the pretty 22-year-old’s room as she slept after making a copy of her keycard.

The astonished guest awoke to find him standing in front of her, stripped from the waist down, Blackfriars Crown Court heard.

Prosecutors claim he intended to sexually assault the woman, but fled when she raised the alarm.

Jahangir held the trusted role at the Ibis hotel in Cardington Street, near Euston Railway Station, northwest London, when he is said to have targeted the alleged victim at around 5am on August 29 last year.

He claims he naively went into her room, after befriending her earlier in the evening, to continue their conversation and to use her toilet.

Jacqueline Samuel, prosecuting, told jurors his story was ‘absolutely ridiculous’.

‘We say you can clearly infer that there was a sexual purpose,’ she said.

The court heard Jahangir’s manager overheard him telling someone that the complainant was having trouble with her keycard.

She then heard the machine start up as he made a duplicate.

Ms Samuel said: ‘The new card cancels all the previous cards.

‘She is effectively trapped in the room – nobody can go in.’

The victim, a Dutch bank worker, has travelled to London to give evidence against Jahangir.

She had spent the day sightseeing with two friends before returning for dinner and drinks.

Eventually she went to bed and at just before 5am the defendant took the lift to the 5th floor where her room was, and let himself in.

‘We don’t know what exactly is happening because the victim is actually asleep at this stage,’ said Ms Samuel.

One of her friends, who had remained downstairs socialising, then came up and knocked on her door but she did not wake up until the phone rang.

‘She sees someone standing in her room,’ said the prosecutor.

‘There is no doubt – the defendant admits he went into her room.

‘She was obviously shocked and distressed.

‘She said: “Who are you, what the hell are you doing here?”

‘The defendant was in front of her.

‘His underpants, trousers and shoes were off.

‘He was wearing the top half of his clothing – a shirt, tie and jacket.

‘He was quite close to her.

‘He then starts putting his clothes on again.

‘She called her friend on her mobile phone.

‘The defendant rushed out of the room along the corridor.’

It was said Jahangir apologised and begged ‘Don’t say anything,’ and returned shortly afterwards to plead with her some more.

‘He was obviously terrified he has been caught out,’ said the barrister.

Jahangir, of Pennack Road, Peckham, se London, denies trespass with intent to commit a sexual offence on August 29, 2010.

The trial continues.
